Child abuse
Child abuse is an act by any adult that endangers a child or young person's physical or
emotional health or development.
There are four types of child abuse:
-
physical
-
emotional
-
neglect
-
sexual.
Hitting, shaking, and sexual activity such as fondling a child are all examples of abusive
behaviours. Neglect refers to failing to provide for a child's basic needs so the child
can develop normally.
