The Medicare Australia website has information and a factsheet for
Grandparents and Carers on Medicare benefits for grandparents and other carers caring
for children.
Ask your Medicare
Australia office about having your grandchildren added to your Medicare card. If they
are over 15 they can have their own card. So long as you have a receipt you can claim
Medicare benefits for your grandchildren, even where the child is not included on your
Medicare card. Ask your local Medicare office or local health care centre about free
dental check ups for children and teenagers.

The Australian Childhood Immunisation Register — If you are uncertain
about whether your grandchildren have been immunised you can check with the
Australian Childhood Immunisation Register. This is a national register
administered by Medicare Australia that records details of vaccinations given to
children (under seven years of age) who live in Australia and have been enrolled
in Medicare.
