Divorce
Although there are formal legal processes to end your marriage you do not need a solicitor
to apply for a divorce. If you have been married for more than two years and separated for
more than 12 months you can apply for a divorce by filling in an application form, from
the Family Law Courts Registry, online at
divorce.gov.au or DIY divorce
kits are available from the
Federal
Magistrates Court. The kit includes a divorce application form and a guide on how to
complete the form. Completed forms can be filed at any Registry.
